There are three updates regarding the socials for junior/senior high

1) The deadline to order tickets for the evening performance at the Lies Center that is part of the Fall Formal for 7th-12th grade homeschoolers has been extended. The money is due by Sunday (the deposit of $5 to Lisa McFarland). The original announcement is in the newsletter. The meal cost is still being looked into but the goal is to keep it at or below $15.00 per kid. Lisa expects about 20 kids to take part in this event. The deposit should be sent to Lisa McFarland, 3018 Tomahawk Drive, Lawrence, KS 66049. They need to include their name, address and telephone number with their deposit.

2) The concert featuring Jenni Smith has been moved to September 30th. The time (7pm) and location (Christ Covenant Church) remains the same.

3) A group has been formed for girls 6th, 9th grade. It is called Godz Girls and will meet on Wednesdays for various activities. The first meeting will be at 11:30 - 12:30 at Crafty, downtown, on Wednesday, September 14th. Each girl should bring $7.00 for the activity planned that day. (a beading craft) The next meeting will be on September 28th. Plans are to meet twice a month. Activities are planned in the downtown area to coincide with the Latin class that starts at 1:30pm at Signs of Life. If you want to be included in future emails concerning this group, email Lisa McFarland at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it If you have any questions, call Lisa at 841-2276. _______________________________________________

Something you could do for rescue efforts PDF Print E-mail
Written by Jeanette Campbell
Friday, 09 September 2005

Dear Friends:

I'm writing as the wife of a Coast Guard aviator, CMDR Todd Campbell who's the Sector Air Boss of the Coast Guard in New Orleans helping with logistics in the rescue efforts. It is an insurmountable task and the rescuers are becoming weary in their well-doing. I could give you harrowing tales of these daddies and mommies who are working round the clock to rescue the folks in New Orleans, but that's not why I'm writing.

In your little circle of the world I would ask you to orchestrate a sea of encouragement to wash over their weary bones. As a group, please ask your friends, SS classes, classrooms, offices, etc to collectively write notes of encouragement to the Coast Guard aviation crews. A HUGE portion of crews from every part of the USA are here. Once the rescue turns to a recovery mission, these crews will need even more encouragement. Your gratitude expressed in the written form will give them the boost of energy that no Starbucks could offer.

SO, please send them as follows: gather as many cards (or have a whole slew of people sign one card....be creative) AND SEND ONE envelope to: Rescuers c/o Todd Campbell Operation CG Wave of Encouragement, LA Convention Center and Hotel, Room 347,2225 N. McArthur Blvd., Alexandria, LA 71303. I know these cards will be treasured and re-read in the dark hours ahead. As I'm writing, Todd called to say they are so desperate for pilots who've slept in the last 2 days, that he is getting back in the cockpit. Your prayers are treasured and are the very things that are keeping these rescuers protected and alive. Your efforts are as critical as any bottle of water.

Thanks again for being God's hand extended.

Jeanette Campbell

Summer Library Program finishers PDF Print E-mail

Below is something that was sent to me from Barb Michener regarding the Library's summer Reading Program. As a group Teach, we haven't had a ceremony to recognize the readers nor have we in TLC since TLC starts in October. I would suggest that you would pick up your reader's certificate at the children's desk.

Dear friends,

This is a note from Lana regarding the swim day. This is a great day. For those who participated last year, the price has gone up but you have more use of the pool and if you remember, you only had 6 swim days whereas you have about 9 this year. Please contact Lana below if you are interested.

TEACH Newsletter, E-news, and website coordinated PDF Print E-mail
Written by Teach Web Administrator
Tuesday, 06 September 2005

With the most recent edition of TEACH News, the September edition, mailed out the week of September 6, we are introducing a new feature on the website: E-News.

Many of the monthly newsletter articles come from the email updates that were sent out just prior to the newsletter getting published. So, we are now updating the website with a running 'blog' of the e-news emails, which will give you additional access to this information. If you lost the email, or are using a different computer, and need certain information, and cannot lay your hands on a current newsletter, you can simply go to the website and look through the recent posts on the E-News section, and you will find the item(s) you are looking for!

Make sure your membership is up-to-date, becuase very soon, much of this information will not be available to the public until the month following its publication in the newsletter. In other words, TEACH members will have access to the most current news and information through the website, in addition to the newsletter and email lists. During the months of September and October, the website is mostly public so that we can allow everyone to visit and see for themselves what kinds of news and services are available here. But after October, a username and password will be required to see the latest news and certain other sections of our website. Let your homeschooling friends know about this great resource.
